British Airways Executive Club
British Airways offers a comprehensive frequent flyer strategy through the dominant airline alliance OneWorld. It is perfect for anyone who enjoys international travel and plenty of shopping and leisure along the way.
Airline
British Airways is the flag carrier for the UK, being the second largest airline in the UK in terms of fleet size, international flights and international destinations. The airline is also in agreement with Spanish carrier Iberia, creating Europe’s second largest airline group.Flights
British Airways has its main hub is London Heathrow airport, with a second hub at London Gatwick. This makes the BA Executive Club perfect for anyone who lives and works out of the capital city and makes regular business trips or takes holidays from these airports, or for anyone flying from around the world to attend events in London. British Airways has now discontinued all direct overseas flights from anywhere other than Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports, so it is best to become a member of the Executive Club if you normally only use these London airports.
Entitlement
Members of the British Airways Executive Club are entitled to access to some great offers with the airline, as well as participating restaurants and package holiday providers. Members are regularly offered exclusive low budget flights to Europe, special deals on hotel rooms, two-for-one offers with popular London restaurants, and special offers on European holiday packages. Members, depending on their membership status, are also permitted access to exclusive airport lounges with British Airways and partner airlines around the world, helping to make traveling more comfortable and convenient.
Points
Members can collect British Airways Miles by spending on British Airways flights and flights with other airlines in the OneWorld alliance. Additionally, points can be earned by booking stays with hotel chains Langham, Hilton, Marriot, Intercontinental, Starwood, Raddisson, Hyatt, Shangri-La, Mandarin Oriental and Taj Hotels. Members can earn points by hiring cars from Avis, or by using British Airways credit cards such as the British Airways American Express card. Several every day retailers are also part of BA’s Executive Club, so members can collect points by spending with Apple, HMV and Ebay online, as well as Tesco and Travelex.
There are three tiers to BA Executive Club membership, which have different benefits associated with them. Blue membership is the most basic tier. In this tier, members are able to collect air miles. Other benefits include priority waiting list, seating and meal preferences stored and provided where possible, a household account, the ability to collect BA miles with Executive Club partners, and the ability to purchase BA miles. With Silver membership, the next tier up, members receive all of the benefits of Blue membership, plus priority check-in and boarding, additional baggage allowance, reservation assurance, a twenty-five per cent air miles bonus (that is, twenty-five per cent more points per mile than with Blue membership), and lounge access when flying with British Airways or one of its OneWorld Alliance partners.
Gold membership is the highest status tier, and with this type of membership members receive all of the available benefits. They receive all of the benefits of Silver membership, as well as a fifty per cent air miles bonus, worldwide lounge access at any time, the use of British Airways first and other OneWorld Alliance first class check-in desks, a Gold upgrade for two, a Silver partner card, priority rewards, and a Concorde room card.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the British Airways Executive Club, applicants must be aged 18 or over. Membership is not open to companies, partnerships, unincorporated associations or similar entities. British Airways also reserves the right to refuse membership to individuals with residential addresses in certain countries and regions, so it is a good idea, before applying, to check whether your address falls into one of these areas.
