About Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore. The airline is often seen as a trendsetting company, regularly leading the way with advances in technology, branding and customer service. The airline’s fleet currently stands at 108 aircraft, with a further 59 aircraft currently on order. Singapore Airlines maintains a policy of keeping a young fleet, with the average plane being only 6 years and 7 months old. Singapore Airlines was also the launch customer of the “superjumbo” Airbus A380, demonstrating the airline’s investment in the latest aviation technology.
Singapore Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance, the largest airline alliance in the world. This means that benefits earned through flying with Singapore Airlines can then be used with other airlines that are part of the alliance, such as Spanair, Swiss, Tap Portugal, Turkish Airlines, and many more. This way, there are many more ways to earn and spend points.
Singapore Airlines has won countless awards in almost every category open to an airline. In 2009 alone, Singapore Airlines was awarded Guardian/Observer Travel Awards Best Long Haul Airline, Best Business Class from Condé Nast Traveler, Readers’ Choice Awards Best Global Airline, The Nordic Business Travel Supplier Award for Best Nordic Travel Supplier, Business Travel Awards Best Transpacific Airline for Business Class, and almost a hundred more.
Singapore Airlines FlightsSingapore Airlines has its hub at Singapore Changi Airport, and naturally has a well developed network of flight paths around South East Asia, East Asia, South Asia and Australasia. As well as this, Singapore Airlines operates trans-Pacific flights. Two of these routes are the two longest non-stop flights, from Singapore to Newark, and Singapore to Los Angeles, both of which use an Airbus A340-500. So, for frequent flyers who regularly travel to Asia, this is an excellent airline to use, as its frequent flyer program will help to reduce the cost of regular Asian travel.
