United Mileage Plus
United’s Mileage Plus scheme is a straightforward frequent flyer program that provides plenty of benefits, particularly to travelers who often fly within or to the United States. There are hundreds of chances to accrue points with Mileage Plus thanks to its network of partnerships, and its range of destinations is another winning feature of the airline and its rewards scheme.
Members earn miles by flying United, United Express or Star Alliance airlines and by purchasing products or services from more than 100 participating partners in over 10,000 locations worldwide.
Members redeem miles for travel and other unique awards. Mileage Plus offers members the most extensive selection of award travel destinations including over 800 cities in more than 139 countries.
United Airline
With a focus on customer care, United is a founding member of the Star Alliance, the world’s leading airline alliance. This means that benefits customers earn with United Mileage Plus can be reaped through any of Star Alliance’s 25 other airline members, providing Mileage Plus members with a huge variety of choices when it comes to booking flights and upgrades and deciding on travel itineraries.
United Flights
United is one of the largest international airlines based in the United States. It operates over 3,000 flights every day through United and its subsidiary airline United Express, to over 200 US domestic and international destinations. United has five hubs in the United States. Those hubs are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and Washington DC, so for anyone traveling to or around the United States, Mileage Plus could be a fantastic option. As well as this, United has key global air rights between the United States and Asia, Europe and Latin America, and so can provide excellent services to destinations in these areas as well as domestically. United boasts a large and varied fleet which includes many types of aircraft including A319s, A320s, B737s, B747s, B757s, B767s, B777s, CRJ200s, CRJ700s, DASH8s, EMB170s, ERJ145s and SAAB340s.
Mileage Plus Entitlements, Benefits and Perks
There are four tiers of Mileage Plus membership, and each comes with its own benefits. With the most basic level of membership, Premier, and the next level up, Premier Executive, members are entitled to priority check-in, complimentary upgrades to economy plus seats, unlimited Y/B complimentary upgrades, and waitlist priority. For members who are part of the next level, 1K, the benefits increase again. These members are entitled to exemption from certain baggage fees, 100 per cent mileage bonuses on flights, Star Alliance Gold benefits including priority standby, priority boarding and access to Star Alliance lounges, and discounted Red Carpet Club membership.
Further, there are more rewards for members who fly one million miles or more with United. When members reach one million miles, they receive Premier Executive status for life, two regional upgrades at the end of every year, and three systemwide upgrades to use for a one-class, one-way upgrade on United or United Express flights to any destination. Members who reach two million miles with United get complimentary life membership of the Red Carpet Club, an exclusive gift, and. Members who reach three million miles flown with United get personalised upgrades of status and an exclusive gift, plus four systemwide upgrades to use for a one-class, one-way upgrade on United or United Express flights to any destination.
Earn United Mileage Plus Points
The miles earned with United Mileage Plus depends on the class traveled in. Flights on first class services F and A receive 150 per cent of the redeemable mileage credit. Flights on business class services J, C and D receive 125 per cent of the redeemable mileage credit. Flights on discount business class service Z receive 100% of the redeemable mileage credit, as do flights on economy class services Y and B, and discount economy services M, E, U, H, Q, V, W, S, T, L, and K. Members also receive the same amount of Elite Qualifying Miles as they do air miles with each flight. Elite Qualifying Miles are those collected in order to move up the status tiers of the program. With flights of under 500 miles, elite members receive at least 500 mileage credits and 500 Elite Qualifying Miles too.
Mileage Plus also has a wide range of partners, and by purchasing products with or from those partners, members can earn even more points. Those members include credit card companies, communications and utilities providers, financial service providers, retailers, grocery stores, and dining and entertainment providers. So, members can earn points simply by buying the products and services that they already use all the time.
Points are uncapped, and only expire if there is no account activity for 18 months.
Eligibility
Membership of this program is not restricted to any particular country, and customers over the age of two may join.
