How to Earn & Redeem More Velocity Rewards Points

Velocity Rewards is a membership program for travellers to earn points through travel expenses and then redeem them for flights, hotels, car rentals, and merchandise. Points are credited to members when they give their membership number when making purchases. However, if members forget, they may be able to log in to the Velocity Rewards website and claim missing points.

Earning Velocity Rewards Points

There are numerous ways to earn Velocity points. Perhaps the easiest way to quickly build up your balance is to use a credit card to make everyday purchases, but it is also possible to earn points by flying with Velocity linked airlines, staying at hotels participating in the program, renting a car from a participating company and making purchases from other program partners.

Earning Points by Spending With Your Velocity Credit Card

Velocity NAB Standard credit card holders earn Velocity points as they spend. Therefore you can transform mundane purchases such as groceries, utility bills and fuel into holidays, weekends away and life experiences. Earning points with a Velocity linked credit card is probably the easiest way to build up your rewards, especially if you aren't a frequent traveller.

Earn Points as You Fly

Flying on any Velocity affiliated airlines earns Velocity Rewards Points. The following carriers allow members to earn a maximum of 1.5 points per mile: Emirates, Delta, Hawaiian Airlines, and Malaysia Airlines. Members earn a maximum of 2 points per mile through V Australia, Airlines PNG, and Virgin Atlantic. Members earn a minimum of 5 Rewards points (maximum of 7) per every $1 spent, including flight cost, baggage, drinks, etc., through Pacific Blue, Polynesian Blue, and Virgin Blue. Members do not need frequent flyer numbers to earn points.

Earn Points at Velocity Linked Car Rental Companies

Members earn Velocity Rewards points by booking with the following car rental companies: Airport Parking, Fiat, Brunel Worldwide Chauffer Drive, and Europcar.

Earning Points at Hotels in the Velocity Program

Velocity’s Partner Program also gives rewards points when booking with partner hotels. Members simply give their Velocity membership number when booking. More points will be earned for more expensive rooms. Participating hotels include: Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Travelodge Suites, Hilton Worldwide, Econo Lodge, Candlewood Suites, Hotel Indigo, HotelClub, Crown Towers, Intercontinental Hotel & Resorts, Clarion, Medina, Quality, Rendezvous Hotel & Resorts International, Vibe Hotels, Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resorts, Staybridge Suites, and Crown Promenade Hotel.

Additional Program Partners

Several online stores are program partners, including WineMarket, Virgin Mobile, and Bluetix. Points are earned according to the amount spent. Members can also add their Velocity membership number to their mobile phone bill and earn points through monthly bills. Frequently there are specials on Velocity’s website to earn bonus Rewards points.

Redeeming Velocity Rewards Points

Velocity’s website has a section dedicated to redeeming rewards points while logged in with a membership number. It is important to know that purchases made with your points may have extra taxes and surcharges, for which points may not be usable.

Redeem Points for Flights

The “any seat” selection on Velocity’s website requires more points because members can buy any seat on any flight they would like, including during holidays. The “Rewards seats” require fewer points but less of them are available so members must book well in advance to get their preferred flight.

Using Rewards Points for Car Rentals

Members can call Velocity to purchase reservations with Europcar. Members of the program can also use the Velocity Rewards website directly to book with Fiat. To use Brunel Limousines, members call Brunel to notify them that they will use points to pay for the service and then buy a certificate through the Velocity Rewards website. The certificate will be mailed within seven business days.

Redeeming Your Points in Hotels

In order to use Velocity points to book hotels that are a part of Velocity’s Partner Program, members must call the hotel to notify them that they intend to use their points as payment. Members then order a certificate on the Velocity Rewards website, which will be mailed to them within seven business days. Members present the certificate when they check into the hotel. More expensive rooms, such as those reserved during popular holidays or suites, require more points and also require reservations at least two weeks in advance.

Spend Points on Velocity’s Online Store

Members can also redeem points through Velocity’s online store for items such as gift vouchers, electronics, travel goods and many other items.
